The word ‘kith’ is most often used in the term “kith and kin,” meaning your friends and family. In English, the word kinship is a commonly used term - a noun referring the quality or state of relationships with relatives. However, kithship is not a recognized word in English. As culture shapes language just as language shapes culture, this linguistic discrepancy highlights a primarily North American norm of biological family being viewed as a more legitimate and valuable relationship type than platonic relationships. Our goal is to change that, so we created Kithship.
Kithship is a social wellness club that provides socials, workshops, and retreats for adults in Toronto looking to make space in their busy schedules to tend to themselves, their wellbeing, growth, and community. We share values of kindness, delight, play, diversity, and reciprocity and continuously come up with creative ways to connect with each other through these values.
About Us
Founded by an ambivert with ADHD, Kithship aims to host gatherings that balance a lot of the nuance that comes with neurodivergent social health. We aim to facilitate environments with enough people where you don’t feel like you stick out, but not too many where it feels like a crowd. Where activities are interactive, but not overstimulating. Where when you walk in the room, you immediately feel welcome and taken care of.
Kithship aims to feel like a playdate with your inner child.
We share values of kindness, delight, play, diversity, and reciprocity and continuously come up with creative ways to connect with each other through that lens.
Kithship is designed for people who:
Feel most socially fulfilled by meaningful conversations in small groups
Enjoy learning more about themselves and others
Are seeking to become a meaningful part of a diverse community of individuals
Prefer sensory-sensitive event experiences
Share our values of kindness, play, delight, diversity, and reciprocity.
